Storing My Family's Tax Paperwork Although I'm not a professional accountant, I'm always the one to file my own family's, my parents', and my brothers' tax returns. It's not a big deal, and my mom, dad, and brothers always take me out to dinner or something to pay for my time. They all have relatively simple returns, after all, so it's not like it takes all that long to do it. The biggest problem, though, is that the paperwork required to do the returns somehow ends up flooding my home office well before tax season. In fact, my family will sometimes start bringing me tax-related paperwork and receipts months before April. That's a big issue, since my home office isn't nearly large enough to contain all that stuff! So last year, in a quest to get my home office into shape and also to give everyone a place to keep their tax returns and the paperwork that goes with them after they're filed (you're supposed to keep that kind of stuff for a few years, after all!) I decided to find a Corona Self Storage location where the family could go in together for a self storage unit that would hold all of our tax paperwork. The ideal unit for me would be close to my home, since I’m the one who does everything with the paperwork. It would be big enough for four small-ish file cabinets – one for each separate family I was doing taxes for. It would be secure and clean, and it would be easy for everyone else to access. That's what I found when I checked out US Storage Centers Corona Self Storage. I didn't even tell the rest of the family I was going to be looking into self storage for all the paperwork until I'd checked out Corona Self Storage to see what it might cost. When I found out how affordable a small unit was, I was definitely sold. So, I called up my dad and brothers and suggested that we all go in together to purchase a year's worth of storage at a time. They even gave us a discount for paying for our storage rental that far in advance! We decided it was a great idea and went in together to rent the storage unit from US Storage Centers Corona Self Storage. The next weekend, everyone went and bought file cabinets, which we labeled with the name of each family and popped into the storage unit. |

Corona - Summer Furniture Storage During College One of the things no one tells you about going away to a college like Riverside Community College is that you definitely won't want to haul all your stuff home every summer. It's especially true if you live in an apartment instead of a dorm room like I did. If you have a college dorm room, all your furniture is provided, for the most part, and it all stays in the room when you go. It's not a big deal to haul a few bags of clothes and boxes of books home with you every summer. But when you live in an apartment and have your own furniture, you really don't want to rent a truck to take your furniture home just so it can sit in your mom's garage taking up room for the entire summer. Luckily for me, when I had this problem, a friend suggested I use US Storage Centers Corona Self Storage location. The Corona Self Storage location was close enough to campus, and it had great prices for summer long storage. Since they offered month to month leases and I didn't have to sign a long-term contract, I was able to afford to rent a small unit for my college apartment furniture for the summer. I decided to take most of my other odds and ends home with me, so I would just need a unit big enough to store my apartment furniture in. Luckily, the manager at the Corona Self Storage location really knew what she was talking about and was able to give me advice on how best to store my furniture. Her advice not only told me how to save space in my Corona Self Storage unit so that I could rent a slightly smaller unit, but also told me how to keep my furniture in great shape while it was in storage. Since I'd just gotten all my furniture new that year with my hard-earned waitressing money, I was really grateful for the advice! Here are the tips I followed to keep my furniture in tip-top shape while it was in my Corona Self Storage Unit: 1. Choose the right sized unit: I learned from the Corona Self Storage manager that a good manager can easily help you pick the right unit size based on what you need to store there. The perfect sized unit gives you enough room to store your furniture with a bit of space between it so that it can air out, but doesn't leave you paying for tons of extra space that you don't actually need. 2. Lay down pallets: One of the easiest and cheapest ways to protect furniture from potential water damage is to lay down packing pallets that will help keep the furniture off the floor. If a unit does leak or if the floor sweats when weather changes, the space between the furniture and the floor will keep your furniture from getting water damaged. You can pick up packing pallets for free from lots of stores, since they'll just throw them out or give them away. |
