Corona, California is located in Riverside County and encompasses 3.52 square miles of which 0.105 square miles are water. Corona is bordered by the cities of Norco and Riverside to the northeast, Chino Hills to the northwest, Yorba Linda and Anaheim to the west, and Cleveland National Forest to the southwest.   Corona is located 11.2 miles from Riverside, and 48.7 miles from Los Angeles.

Corona was founded in 1886 during the height of the Southern California citrus boom. Prior to 1886 this city was named South Riverside. This city was once named “Lemon Capital of the World”.  Prior to the 1980s, Corona was mainly agricultural community and home to citrus orchards, ranches, and dairy farms.  High real estate prices in the counties as Los Angeles and Orange Counties made the Corona are very desirable to real estate developers and industries.

 

Corona has mild winters and hot summers with the majority of rainfall occurring during the winter and early spring. The warmest month of the year is August and the coldest month of the year is December. The average amount of precipitation is 12 inches with the wettest month of the year being February.

The infrastructure of Corona is ideal with easy access from S.R. 71, I-15, and S.R. 91 which provides easy access to retailers and an ideal location for industries.  Residents have access to line 91 of the Metrolink commuter rail system.  Corona Municipal Airport is located on the outskirts of the city and has a 3,200 foot runway.

The 2009 population of Corona was 151,037 which was an increase of 20.9% since 2000.  The median age of residents in this area is 29.9.  The 2009 estimated household income was $74,349.  The estimated median house and condo value in 2009 was $329,700. The median gross rent (2009) was $1,218.  The cost of living in Corona is higher than the national average.

The population density of this area is considered average with 4,297 people per square mile. The racial demographic breakdown of Corona (2009) indicated – 47.0 Hispanic, 36.7% White, 8.1% Asian, and 5.1% African American.

The top employers in Corona include: Corona­-Norco Unified School District, Kaiser Permanente (a managed care consortium), Corona Regional Medical Center, Watson Pharmaceuticals, All American Asphalt, City of Corona, Fender (manufacturer of stringed instruments and amplifiers), Dart Container Corporation, Arizona Pipeline, Avid Link, Circor Aerospace, Minka Group, Century Blinds, TRW Enterprises, LDI Mechanical, Core-Mark Holding Company (supper of container package goods), Hensen Natural Corporation (a soft drinks manufacturer), and West Coast Customers (a car remodeling company).   

The Corona­-Norco Unified School District is made of up 8 high schools, 7 middle schools, and 31 elementary schools.

The economy of Corona is strong and continues growing with additional retail and commercial space being added each year. This area has more than 30 million square feet of industrial space and more than 3 million square feet of office space that is either under construction or planned for future construction.  This city also has the benefit of easy access to major highways.  Corona shows all the signs of this city only increasing in size in the future. Residents moving into this area would benefit from secure storage during the transition period as they move into this city.  These same residents are likely to be in need personal storage as they settle into this area and their families increase in number for excess personal items or seasonal decorations.    Both large and small businesses that decide to locate in this area will likely be in need of storage space to store excess products and/or equipment.
