Extra Space for My Lawn Care Equipment

When my wife and I finally bought a house in Gardena this year, we were really excited about having a lawn to take care of. We'd never had that before, having always lived in apartments, and we both wanted a great lawn and garden. The issue was that we didn't really have room for our lawn and gardening supplies in our relatively small home. I mean, we had a two-car garage, but between our cars and my motorcycle, all that space was totally taken up.

At first, we thought we would have to settle for having someone else take care of our lawn, which was really expensive, or that we would just always have to rent the major lawn care equipment we needed. But then, we decided to check out alternative ways of getting some extra space for our lawn care equipment, such as our mower. During our search, we came across US Storage Centers Gardena Self Storage location, which turned out to be the perfect option for our lawn and garden care storage needs!

Why Use Self Storage?

Really, when you need a little extra space to store whatever, there aren't all that many viable options. Self storage just seemed like a logical place for us to look. Plus, once we checked out US Storage Centers Gardena Self Storage location, we found out just how affordable getting extra space through a self storage unit can be!

I mean, I was really surprised at the prices for the kind of space we would be able to get. It was going to be way cheaper in the long run to buy our own lawn and garden care equipment and to keep it in a storage unit than it was ever going to be to pay someone else to care for our lawn and garden. Plus, we really did want to do it ourselves!

Besides being cheap, though, the US Storage Centers Gardena Self Storage location was going to be really easy for us to use. It was only a few minutes' drive from our new home, which meant that we could go there and back twice on a Saturday or Sunday if we needed to. Since we would mostly be doing weekend lawn and garden care when we were both off work, that worked perfectly for us. The extended gate hours even on the weekends means that we don't have to be in a rush to finish our yard projects to get the equipment back into storage, either.

Well, one time we did have to keep one of the cars out of the garage because we worked on the yard so late that we didn't feel like driving back to the storage unit to take the equipment back to storage, but that's different!

Why Off Site Paperwork Storage is a Great Idea for Small Businesses

As a Certified Public Accountant, I can tell you that one of the biggest struggles that most small businesses have is dealing with paperwork. There's so much financial and personnel and record keeping paperwork that goes into a small business that most businesses simply aren't equipped to deal with it. This can be a real problem during tax season, when businesses absolutely have to get all their year's paperwork together so that someone like me can file their taxes.

I can't tell you how many times I've had to amend a tax return for a business – which costs them more time and money – or have had to extend their tax filing – which also costs time and money – simply because they didn't have their paperwork organized enough to get through tax season without any mishaps.

Part of the problem for most small and micro businesses is that they simply don't have enough storage space to properly organize their paperwork and files. This means that when they do get paperwork they know they need to keep, it gets tossed in a spare drawer somewhere, and someone hopes to have it sorted out at a later date. Of course, this never really works out.

This lack of space problem is why I'm bit on telling small business owners to check out self storage options that will allow them to take their business and tax paperwork off site where they'll have the space they need to keep it organized. I highly recommend US Storage Centers Gardena Self Storage location to small businesses in my area because it's affordable, convenient, and, most of all, quite secure.

What Paperwork Can Be Kept in a Gardena Self Storage Unit

One thing that business owners fail to realize on a regular basis is that there is so much business paperwork they'll need to keep indefinitely if they want to keep their businesses running. For instance, tax returns and worksheets, articles of incorporation, capital stock and bond registers, copyrights, legal correspondence, depreciation schedules, deeds and mortgages, licenses and permits, patents, and even property appraisals all have to be kept in the business files for the entire life of the business, and in some cases, even after the business is closed!

Besides all that, things like personnel files, employment applications, payroll records, personal property tax returns, expense reports, employment tax reports, bank statements, cash books, accounting ledgers, bank reconciliations, and even expired insurance policies have to be kept for between one and seven years! That's besides all the annual paperwork that needs to be kept just so that that year's taxes can be filed in the first place!

Obviously, that's a lot of paperwork for a small business owner to deal with, especially if they're working out of the home or a small office space. For this reason, it's a good idea for lots of small businesses to use a Gardena Self Storage unit like the ones they'll find at the local US Storage Centers.

Gardena - Storing My Staging Furniture

Now is a great time to be in the home staging business, I think. It's been great for me, at least. People who are looking to sell know that it's going to be tough, which means they're willing to do whatever it takes to find a buyer for their homes – even if that means paying a stager to make their homes look nicer.

One of the great things about a staging business is that you can run most of it from home. But, of course, you've got to have a place to keep all the furniture and such you use for staging a home. For me, that means using a Gardena Self Storage unit through US Storage Centers as part of my business. I don't have room in my home or garage for all the extra furniture I need to stage one or two homes (the most I ever take at once because I only work part-time), and the Gardena Self Storage unit is the perfect solution for me.

One of the things I love about the US Storage Centers Gardena Self Storage location is that it's affordable, and it's very secure. For staging, you don't use expensive furniture – just furniture that looks expensive – but, still, those are major pieces of my business, so I would be in a bunch of trouble if something happened to my staging furniture. The manager at the US Storage Centers Gardena Self Storage location was even kind enough to talk over my business with me and to give me some tips I hadn't thought of for storing my furniture in a self storage unit:

  • Make aisles: Some people who are storing furniture don't really need to do this because they're just going to access the furniture once to move it all back out of storage. With a staging business, though, I'm constantly moving furniture into and out of my storage unit. The manager suggested that I make aisles between pieces of furniture so I could get to the pieces I needed without having to move everything around. It made for a much more efficient business!
  • Oil the metal stuff: I have a few modern pieces that I used in some homes that have that sort of feel. I hadn't thought of it, but the Gardena Self Storage center manager said it would be a good idea for me to regularly treat the metal pieces with rust protectant or a thin coat of oil so they wouldn't rust in storage.

Storing Our Water Skiing Supplies

My family has always been big into water skiing. I can remember learning how to ski on those little tied-together kid skis with my mom's bigger skis on either side of mine and her hands holding onto the ski rope outside of mine. It's always been so much fun, and I taught my kids to ski when they were quite young, too. Even though my family doesn't own a boat, we go skiing with my parents and other friends a lot, so we keep our own skiing gear. Luckily, we found our Gardena Self Storage unit at a location called US Storage Solutions, so it's not such a hassle to keep all of our water skiing gear on hand all the time.

The main problem with water skiing gear is that if you're really into it, everyone has to have their own! My wife and I don't share skis, and our kids all have their own sets, too. Add that to the fact that three of us also slalom – ski on one ski – and you've got an even bigger mess of gear to deal with. Plus, my youngest son, thirteen, has recently decided he wants to break family tradition and try wakeboarding instead. I don't know much about wakeboarding, but, of course, he's getting a wakeboard for Christmas to use on our water skiing trips next summer.

Besides all the actual skis and ropes, you've got all our life vests. Again, everyone has his or her own neoprene life vest, and the girls have shorts that go with them, too. Then there's also the fact that we always carry our own cooler skiing with us, just in case. When you take a family of five skiing with you, you don't expect to have to feed them all out of your own cooler, even if you're the boat owner! It all really adds up to a ton of stuff that we just don't have room for at home.

We used to be able to store our ski stuff in our spare room at home, but as our kids have gotten older, we've had to move them from shared bedrooms to their own rooms, so there's no such thing as a spare room, anymore. Putting the ski equipment in the garage is out of the question, which is why we came up with the idea of storing it in a Gardena Self Storage unit.

We looked around at different Gardena Self Storage locations near us before we decided on US Storage Centers. Basically, we were looking for someplace that was close to home and easy to access, that had great security, and that was definitely affordable. I mean, we spent all this money on water skiing equipment, and we didn't really want to have to pay a fortune every month to store it, too!

Storing My Classic Car

Classic car lovers everywhere know that having the perfect classic car you've always dreamed of is amazing, but that it can also be a little bit of a hassle. After all, you're not going to drive your classic car to work every day, but you might not be able to afford a four-car garage to keep it at home, either. So, what do you do with your car? If you're smart, you check out storage options. For my classic car, I trust US Storage Centers Gardena Self Storage to keep my car safe and sound until I need it for a weekend car show or just to go cruising.

The Gardena Self Storage location called US Storage Centers is a great option for me because it's within a few minutes of my house, but that's not the only reason I chose it. When it comes to my car, nothing is more important than keeping it safe, both from people and from the weather. With Gardena Self Storage, I'm able to protect it from both.

The Gardena Self Storage location is great because it features top-notch security, such as individual alarms on every door. If someone opens a unit's door without punching in the code at the front gate, they'll set off that unit's alarm, and the on-site manager will know about it. Plus, the whole facility is protected by cameras just about everywhere, and you can use whatever kind of lock you want on you unit so that not even the manager can get in without you being there as well!

Keeping my car secure from people is important, but keeping it safe from the elements might be even more so. I looked at some self storage locations that offered outdoor storage for vehicles, but this just wasn't going to cut it for me. I needed my car to be in a garage, even if I couldn't put it in my own garage at home. I knew US Storage Centers Gardena Self Storage was the best option for me when I found out they had one-car-garage sized 10x20 storage units that would keep my car completely protected from the elements.
