Gardena, California is located in Los Angeles County. This city encompasses 5.9 square miles of which 99% is land.  This city is located about 4.1 miles from Torrance, 5.7 miles from Inglewood, 10.9 miles from Long Beach, and 13.9 miles from Los Angeles.

The weather of Gardena is mild year round with an average high in the 70s and the average low in the 50s.  The warmest month of the year is August and the coldest month of the year is December.  The average annual precipitation is 13.15 inches with the wettest month of the year is February.

Gardena consists of family-oriented neighborhoods with a wide variety of housing options.  There are almost 21,500 residential units available in the city of which approximately half are residential single family units.

Based on 2009 Census statistics, the population of Gardena was 58,829 which is a +1.1% increase from 2000.  The average household income in 2009 was $45,599.  The median age is 34.4. The estimated median house or condo value in 2009 was $372,894.  The median rent (2009) was $973.

 

The population density for this city is high with 10,027 people per square mile. With this high population density it is highly probable that residents in this area are living in small dwellings and would benefit from a nearby secure storage facility to keep excess personal property.

The racial demographic breakdown of Gardena (2009) indicated that 36.5% of the population is Hispanic, 26.2% is Asian, 24.0% is African American, and 10.2% is White.

The top employers in Gardena as of 2009 include Hustler Casino, Normandie Casino, Crenshaw Lumber Company,  Memorial Hospital of Gardena, Southwest Offset Printing, Nissin Foods, HITCO Carbon Composites, Chromalloy Corporation, Ramona’s Mexican Food, Nissin Foods, Gardena Honda, Gardena Nissan, Marukai Market, Sam’s Club, Target, Albertsons, and United Parcel Service (UPS).  Gardena is also the company headquarters for Digital Manga (a company that licenses and releases English and Japanese related merchandise), and National Stores Inc. (which operates the Factory 2-U and Fallas Paredes brands).

Gardena offers a Small Manufacturers Advantage Program to businesses in their city.  This Program offers assistance from a business consultant for a period of up to 6 months.  This business consultant provides the manufacturing business a written report on the latest ideas and tools that the company could implement to make their business more successful.   

By all indications, and current statistics, the population of Gardena will continue to increase in numbers and it is a proven fact that people in the process of relocating need secure storage. The businesses currently located in Gardena and the future businesses will require storage units for the storing of records or excess equipment and/or products.

As with all cities, residents are in need of self storage facilities for number of reasons such as a place to store seasonal items such as Christmas decorations, camping equipment, or sporting equipment because they do not have the extra space to store these items in their home.  Many people also run small businesses out of their homes these days and need a storage facility located close to their home to keep their stock.   

Gardena is working hard to attract more businesses to the area which would also attract more residents to the area.  This city is also working hard to help existing businesses in the area to succeed in this rough economy and keep these businesses and employees in the area. Everything about the City of Gardena indicates this area will continue to grow in population and an increase of population always bodes well for the need of public storage.
