Hawthorne, California is located in the southwestern part of Los Angeles County and encompasses 6.092 square miles of which 0.011 square miles are water. Hawthorne is bordered on the north by Inglewood, on the south by Lawndale, on the east by Gardena, on the west by El Segundo, and the southwest by Manhattan Beach and is 11.8 miles from Los Angeles.  

Manhattan Beach, California is also located in the southwestern part of Los Angeles County and encompasses 3.941 square miles with 0.004 square miles of which is water.  Manhattan Beach is made up several neighborhoods – Bruce’s Beach, Downtown, East Manhattan Beach, El Porto, Gas Lamp Section, Hill Section, Liberty Village, Manhattan Heights, Manhattan Village, Rosecrans Corridor, Sand Section, The Strand, and Tree Section.   Manhattan Beach is a very affluent beach town (ranked as one of the most expensive coastal towns to live in the United States) with many of its residents commuting to nearby Los Angeles to work. The 2011 cost of living index for Manhattan Beach was 146.0.

 

The mild weather year round allows residents to enjoy sporting activities year round with the warmest month of the year are August and the coldest month is December.  These residents will likely be looking for a secure storage unit to keep their sporting equipment.

It is a fact that communities have a large turnover of students moving in and out of dorms and off-campus housing.
