Norwalk, California is a suburban city located in Los Angeles County. Norwalk encompasses 9.746 square miles of which 0.039 square miles in water. Norwalk is located 20.9 miles from Los Angeles and 8.3 miles from Long Beach. Norwalk is ranked as the 58th most populous city in State of California and ranked as the 255th most populous city in the United States.

The City of Norwalk was incorporated in 1957.  This area was home to the Shoshonean Indian tribe until it was settled by the Spanish settlers in the late 1760s.  After the Mexican-American War ended in 1848 and the mining days ended, portions of this land were made available for sale.  This area was then settled by farmers and valued for its rich, fertile soil.  In the early 1900s this area is where some of the largest sugar beet farms in the U.S. were located. Also during the early 1900s this area was popular for its dairy farms.

Norwalk neighborhoods include Carmenita, Civic Center, Fulton Wells, Northwest Norwalk, South of Alondra, and Studebaker.

Norwalk has an ideal location situated in the heart of the expanding transportation network in this area.  Norwalk is accessible by 4 major roadways – 91 (Riverside) Freeway on the south, 605 (San Gabriel) freeway on the west, I-5 (Santa Ana) Freeway which passes through Norwalk, and I-105 (Century) which extends from Norwalk to the Los Angeles International Airport (LAX).  Two commuter rail lines run through Norwalk – the Metro Green Line with connections to downtown Los Angeles, Long Beach, and LAX and the MetroLink with connection to neighboring cities.

The average temperature in Norwalk is 63 degrees with an average rainfall of 10 inches per year. This climate is ideal for people to participate in various sports.  These individuals are likely to need secure storage for their various sporting equipment.

The 2009 population of Norwalk was 102,508 with over a 9% population growth since 2000. The estimated median household income in 2009 was $58,202. The median age of Norwalk residents in 2009 was 29.7 years. The estimated median house or condo value in 2009 was $333,300.  The gross median rent (2009) was $1,330. The cost of living in Norwalk is above U.S. average.

Norwalk is one of the most rapidly growing cities in the area and is an ideal location for residents and businesses due to its access to numerous freeways.  Permanent residents as well as incoming residents to this area would benefit from access to nearby storage units to keep their excess personal items and/or seasonal decorations. Businesses both new and existing would benefit from nearby storage buildings as a place to keep their excess products or equipment.
