Orange, California is located in Orange County and encompasses 23.6 square miles of which 0.5 square miles of water. Orange is located 2.3 miles from Santa Ana, 4.0 miles from Anaheim and 36.8 miles from Los Angeles.

Orange is located at the junction of SR 57 (Orange Freeway) and SR 22 (Grove City Freeway) which is one of the busiest intersections in the area.  Eastern and Foothill Toll Roads are located on the east side of the city.  The Metrolink connects Orange to Los Angeles, Inland Empire, and Northern San Diego County.

This city is very proud of their Historic District, known as Olde Towne, is a 1 square mile that contains many original structures and was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1997.  This is unique because most cities in this part of the country demolished older homes in the 1960s.  The City of Orange, often the Olde Towne area, has often been used as the filming site for television shows and movies. Filming crews are often in need of secure storage facilities to store wardrobe and equipment.

The majority of homes in Orange were built in the 1950s and early 1970s.  Homes built decades ago tend not to have much storage space and residents of these homes would likely be looking for nearby storage solutions to store seasonal items or personal items.

The City of Orange is a very family-friendly city that is home to 32 schools serving kindergarten through high school. This City has a 51 plot (10 ft x 15 ft plot) community garden that a resident can lease at the cost of $75 per year to raise food for ready consumption, canning, or freezing.

 This area has several parks and nature trails that offer numerous year round sporting options.  Irvine Lake is also nearby. Lake Irvine is a 700 acre lake located in the Cleveland National Forest.  This lake area is ideal for fishing, boating, and camping.  With the numerous sporting activities available in the area, it is highly likely individuals in this area would be looking for personal storage as a place to keep their boat, camping equipment, or sporting equipment when it is not in use.

The 2009 population of Orange was 136,990 which was a 6.3% from 2000. The estimated median household income in 2009 was $76,787. The median age of Orange residents in 2009 was 33.2 years. The estimated median house or condo value in 2009 was $513,100.  The median gross rent in 2009 was $1,429. 

The population density as of 2009 was 5,856 people per square mile which is considered average in this area. The racial demographic of Orange (2009) was 46.9% White, 39.7% Hispanic, 10.8% Asian, and 0.9% African American.

The top employers in Orange as of 2009 was UC Irvine Medical Center, St. Joseph Hospital, Children’s Hospital of Orange County, Orange County Transportation Authority, City of Orange, Chapman University, St. Joseph’s Health System, CaliforniaChoice, National Oilwell Varco, and Word & Brown.

Orange has a large, outdoor shopping and entertainment center in the western part of the city. Shops in this area are home to a wide variety of antique shops as well as clothing boutiques and restaurants. These stores could benefit from business storage facilities nearby to keep their overstock.

Orange is home to Santiago Canyon College, Chapman University, Career Networks Institute, Larson Training Centers, Larson Training Center, Excel Technical College, Berlitz Language Centers, Locksmith School of Technology, School of Lock Technology, Career Management Institute, and MTI College.  Orange is also located within 12 miles of several other colleges and universities with student bodies over 2000 including: Santa Ana College (Santa Ana), University of Phoenix-Southern California Campus (Fountain Valley), Coastline Community College (Fountain Valley), Irvine Valley College (Irvine), Golden West College (Huntington Beach), and Orange Coast College (Costa Mesa).  Communities that are home to institutes of higher education or are located near institute of higher education would benefit from  nearby secure storage facilities for students to store their items during summer break thus eliminating the need for hauling all of their personal items home only to haul them back when they resume classes. 

The population of this area increased by 6.3% from 2000 to 2009 and all signs indicate that this area will continue to grow and individuals moving into the area will likely need personal storage facilities during the relocation process. There are numerous colleges and universities in Orange and located nearby that have students who are often looking for storage solutions. Many of the homes in this area were built several decades ago and are likely lacking is space for storage forcing the residents to look for storage units as a place to keep their seasonal items or excess personal items.
