Storage for My Business's Lawn Care Equipment

Running a lawn care business was never something I thought I would be doing if you'd asked me five years ago, but it's where I find myself today. In all actuality, I really do like running my Simi Valley lawn care business, though there have been some tough hurdles to overcome.

For instance, when I moved my business from my own garage, where I worked when it was part-time, to an actual office building, that was a big hurdle for me. It was a huge step for my business, but I wasn't sure how to navigate all the turns and twists that the step brought.

For one thing, all the other really big lawn care businesses I knew operated out of warehouses where their offices were attached to their warehouse space for all the supplies and equipment they used. But for my business, this was not possible. I was somewhere in between a dinky little part time lawn care business out of my garage and a huge conglomeration with a hundred employees. A large warehouse with offices was just out of the question budget-wise.

Luckily during this time, I had a friend suggest that I check out the US Storage Centers Simi Valley Self Storage location to see if that would be a good fit for my lawn care business. Lo and behold, it was perfect!

The storage units were so reasonably priced that even one large enough for my mowers and other lawn care equipment was well within my business's budget, and then I could afford to rent a small office space besides that. My wife was tired of me working off the dining room table and leaving it a mess, and it was getting to the point where I needed to be able to have a place to actually meet with clients, as well.

At any rate, the Simi Valley Self Storage location was great fit for my business for more than just the price. The price was definitely what drew me there, but there were other things that kept me.

One of those things was accessibility. I was really concerned when I decided to rent a storage unit for my lawn care business that it would take away my freedom to get in and get the supplies I needed whenever I needed them. I mean, with a warehouse, I would have the keys and would be able to get in whenever. I'm not quite as free as that with my Simi Valley Self Storage unit, but I still do have plenty of freedom to get into the storage unit when I feel like it!

Another thing that I liked about the Simi Valley Self Storage unit was the security. If I was renting a warehouse, I would probably have to pay another fortune for the security system. Here, it's all built in. It's not anything super fancy or spy movie worthy, but it works to keep my expensive lawn care equipment protected and in good condition during my rental stay here!

Self Storage for My Home Business Documents

Business documents are the worst when I'm trying to organize my home business. There can just be so much paperwork to deal with that I don't even know where to start. Luckily for me, there are places like US Storage Centers Simi Valley Self Storage, which is the location where I have a self storage unit where I keep all of my business documents. Wondering why I use an off-site location like Simi Valley Self Storage for my home business documents? Here are just a few reasons:

More Space For Low Cost

When operating a home business in a busy family home, space is at a premium. I mean, even if you have kids and don't have a home business, space in your home is probably at a premium. You've got all your closets stuffed full, and even underbed storage in all the bedrooms in your home! There's just not space for stuff like business documents, even if you have a decent-sized home office. I mean, your home office is all taken up with your desk and printer and computer and chairs and whatever else, so unless you have a really big home office, there's not really space for filing cabinets or other document organization systems.

The problem is that there are very rarely homes in a decent, middle-income price range that really do come with room for a large home office with plenty of document storage space. At least, I haven't been able to find one! So for me, the most affordable way to make sure I have room to store my business documents without crowding my entire home is to rent a Simi Valley Self Storage unit. I chose US Storage Centers Simi Valley Self Storage location, in particular, because I found that they offered the greatest value for my hard-earned cash!

Getting it Out of the Way

Even if you do have some extra space for document storage for a home business, getting stuff out of the way is a good idea. Especially if you have kids running around the house. No matter how much time you spend trying to teach your children that they need to stay out of mommy's or daddy's office, at some point in time, they're probably going to get in there. And unless you've invested in locking file cabinets, you're probably going to come home to a mess – maybe a mess of some of your most important business documentation.

Getting those documents out of the house is simply a smart move if you've got little kids about. You can always keep your most valuable documents or the ones you're currently working with in some unreachable location in your home office. But everything else is better off in a Simi Valley Self Storage location. Businesses with employees often use self storage for documents because they want to keep their employees from getting valuable information they don't need to have. I use Simi Valley Self Storage for my business documents simply because I don't want to end up with crayon all over my LLC paperwork!

Simi Valley – Finding a Place to Keep My Parents' Furniture

Last year, my siblings and I had to put both of my parents in an assisted living facility. At least they were able to go together! The process was surprisingly smooth, if a bit emotional. One of the biggest problems we came across was that my parents couldn't take all of their furniture they'd collected over the years with them to assisted living. What were we going to do with it all?

Unfortunately, the move came at a very busy time for the entire family. My sister's daughter was getting married that fall, and my own son was graduating from high school in the spring. My brother was starting a new career transition. The whole family was just so busy that we didn't really have time to deal with the furniture question right at that moment. But we had an interested renter for the house already, so we needed to get everything out.

So, we agreed on the temporary solution of renting a Simi Valley Self Storage unit through US Storage Centers. My own nuclear family had used a small unit at that particular Simi Valley Self Storage location for years to keep our sporting goods and camping equipment in, so I knew it would be a piece of cake to get a storage unit large enough for my parents' furnishings.

I went to talk to the manager right away, and he helped me figure out what size storage unit we'd need. Since my family had always just used the smallest closet-sized unit for a few odds and ends packed in boxes, I had no idea what size unit it would take to get a ton of furniture into storage safely.

The Simi Valley Self Storage manager was great at helping me visualize the storage space and figure out how best to store the furniture we needed to get in there. He said that some people overshoot the size of a storage unit for furniture because they think they'll end up setting up the storage unit like an apartment. Really, though, you can break down big pieces of furniture like bed frames and dining room tables. You can stack things up high, and you can also turn pieces on end if it won't hurt them.

On the other hand, the Simi Valley Self Storage manager said that some people get a storage unit that's too small because they think they should just cram everything into the smallest amount of space possible to save money. This can cost in the long run, though. Packing the furniture in so that there isn't any breathing room around the pieces or between the furniture and the walls can cause moisture in the air to build up between the pieces of furniture, causing mold and other problems.

Storing Baby Stuff in Simi Valley

Storage While We Get Ready for Our Baby

My wife and I are the kinds of people who take a long time to do just about anything. If we're going to move, it will take us a full year to decide where to move and to make it happen. You can just imagine, then, what it meant for us to have a baby! It was like nothing else we'd ever done, and it definitely came with some long-term preparations of its own. One thing that we did in this two-year journey to get ready for our baby was to rent a Simi Valley Self Storage unit for the baby gear we wanted to buy ahead of time.

When we first decided we were going to have a baby in the, for us, near future, we knew we'd want to spent a lot of time getting ready for the baby physically – getting all the right baby gear together. We also knew that we'd already have some heirloom type baby gear coming from our family members, and we wanted to go ahead and round that up so we knew where we stood with the things we needed.

Since we weren't planning on moving into a larger place all that long before the baby was born, we decided to rent a Simi Valley Self Storage unit close to our home where we could store the baby's stuff before we were ready to take it home with us. We ended up getting a Simi Valley Self Storage unit at a place called US Storage Centers for a few reasons.

For one thing, the US Storage Centers Simi Valley Self Storage location was close to our home, which was convenient. It was also easy to access just about whenever wanted to. If we happened to find the perfect rocking chair and pick it up from a Craigslist seller, we could run it straight over to the storage unit almost any time. This was really convenient for us, since we sometimes kept weird hours, at any rate.

Another reason we chose the Simi Valley Self Storage unit at US Storage Centers was the security. It's not difficult to imagine a storage center where the units were easy to break into, just inviting vandals and thieves. The US Storage Centers Simi Valley location isn't like that at all. It's clean and well-lit, and there are cameras everywhere. Plus, the manager lives on site, and the units are individually alarmed. If those things don't deter potential thieves and vandals, I don't know what will!

Besides all this, the US Storage Centers Simi Valley Self Storage location had great prices. It was really easy to fit a storage unit for baby stuff into our budget, especially with the specials that the location frequently ran. Plus, we could set up the payment for the Simi Valley Self Storage unit to come out of our account automatically each month, so it was one less thing to worry about!

Getting the Football Gear Out of the Way

When you have a family full of football players, it's easy for your life and home to get overtaken – absolutely overtaken! – by football and football gear. In the fall during football season, it's all I can do to not trip over a helmet or pads every time I walk from one room to another in my home. Seriously, it gets really frustrating. But it's even worse when you can't get the football gear out of the way during the off season. That's why my family rents a Simi Valley Self Storage unit for football gear during the off season for football.

It might seem a little crazy to have an entire Simi Valley Self Storage unit just for football gear, but it really does help me keep my sanity and help keep our kids' gear effectively out of the way when football season isn't even on. Plus, it's really not all that expensive, and it's a really convenient option, as well.

When our fourth son started playing football and all the gear just got to be too much for me, I decided to start looking for a Simi Valley Self Storage unit, and I came across a storage location called US Storage Centers. As soon as I talked with the manager about pricing and accessibility, I knew it would be a great option for our family. After all, what's a few bucks a month compared to the ability to walk through your own home without having to trip over football gear every two minutes?

The location of the US Storage Centers Simi Valley Self Storage was the first thing that drew me to it. If we were going to pay to store the boys' football gear, we needed to be able to access that storage when we needed to. Even if we were only going to store gear during the off season when we wouldn’t need to access it every weekend, we still would need to be able to easily get to our storage unit as soon as football season started to get it all back out again. The Simi Valley Self Storage location was convenient to our home, so I went to talk to the manager of the US Storage Centers location to see about things like pricing and accessibility.

My Self Storage Story - Simi Valley

Storing My Raiders Collectibles

For as long as I can remember, I've been a Raiders fan. There's nothing better for me than kicking back on a Sunday to watch a Raiders game, which is why I got into collecting Raiders paraphernalia. I'm lucky enough to have a guy room in my house that's totally decked out in Raiders gear of all sorts, and I get more stuff for my birthday, the holidays, and pretty much any other occasion every year. I have literally everything you can think of from signed jerseys to footballs to bobble heads to coasters in Raiders. Unfortunately, I just don't have room to display it all at once, which is where my Simi Valley Self Storage unit at US Storage Centers comes in.

See, about a year ago, my guy room was literally bursting with Raiders stuff. It was all over the walls and shelves, and literally every surface had something Raiders on it. It was great, but it was also starting to get a little bit ridiculous. There were even more collectibles coming out that I knew I was going to want, but where was I going to put them? My girlfriend was certainly not going to let me display them in the living room!

I guess I could have sold off some of my collectible gear, but I just didn't have the heart for that. I'd been gathering up that stuff since I was ten, and almost every piece had a memory or story behind it! So, I talked with my girlfriend, and we decided to try to find a Simi Valley Self Storage Unit close to our home. We came across a Simi Valley Self Storage place called US Storage Centers, and we knew it was the perfect solution.

The smallest unit at the Simi Valley Self Storage location was like a good-sized closet, and we almost went for that one. But then we looked at the next size up, and we decided that would actually be a better option. We could use the unit not just for my Raiders collection but also for other things, like Christmas decorations and our skiing gear, that we only used once in a while. It sure would clear out a lot of space in our home, which we definitely needed at that point in time!

Simi Valley, California is in the Simi Valley which is located southeast corner of Ventura County.  This area encompasses 39.5 square miles of 0.3 square miles of which is water.  This city is surrounded by mountains and hills of Santa Susana Mountain Range, the Simi Hills, the San Fernando Valley and the Conejo Valley.  Simi Valley is located 24.4 miles from Los Angeles.

The early settlers of Simi Valley were the Chumash Indians.  In the early 1860’s and 1870’s   people from the east began trickling into the area where they settled and raised sheep, cattle, and raised grain.  In the late 1880’s a settlement was formed and the Simi Land and Water Company was created to dispose of land and promote growth.  This Company promoted this area in the larger eastern cities of Chicago, Cincinnati, and the New England States and even built a hotel to accommodate individuals that came to visit the area.  A group of doctors from Chicago known as the California Mutual Benefit Company of Chicago decided this area would be an ideal location for a health resort or sanatorium though nothing really materialized from this venture and the doctors moved back east.
