Hallandale Beach Self Storage

Hallandale Beach, Florida is located in Broward County and encompasses 4.55 square miles with .34 square mile being water.  Hallandale Beach is located 3.0 miles from Hollywood and 12.7 miles from Hialeah.  The city is named after Luther Halland who was a worker for the Florida East Coast Railroad – the name of the city was later changed to Hallandale.

The neighbors that make up Hallandale Beach include: Atlantic Shores, Country Club, Downtown, Fashion Row, Foster Road, Gateway East, Gateway North, Gateway West, Golden Isles, Oceanside, Southwest Lakes, and Three Islands.

Hallandale Beach has several parks located inland and on the beach.  The parks in this area have beautiful tropical scenery, playgrounds, public athletic facilities, and community centers.  This City is also home to historical sites of Curci House, Ebenezer Missionary Baptist Church, and the Greater Ward Chapel A.M.E. Church.

 

The Hallandale Beach area was not settled until the late 1800’s.  Prior to that time the Seminole Indians hunted in this area but their settlements were further inland. This area did not grow until the Henry Morrison Flagler expanded the Florida East Coast Railway in 1895. Hollandale Beach did not officially become a town until 1927.  Even after the railway was built this area was very slow to grow. Those that did settle in this area were farming families.

The 2007 population of Hallandale Beach was 36,703. The estimated median household income in 2009 was $33,116. The median age of Hallandale Beach residents in 2009 was 52.7 years. The estimated median house or condo value in 2009 was $153,414. The cost of living in Hallandale Beach (2009) was 114.8.

The population density as of 2009 was 8,718 people per square mile which is considered high for this area.  The racial demographic of Hallandale Beach (2009) breakdown was 62.2% White, 18.8% Hispanic, 15.6% African American, and 1.0% Asian.

Hallandale Beach is best known for being the home of the Mardi Gras Casino Greyhound Racing track which hosts the World Classic.  Hallandale Beach also has a sizeable financial district with a number of banks and brokerage houses which are top employers in this area.

Hallandale Beach does not have any colleges or universities within their city limits but are within 15 miles of several large colleges and universities that have a student body of over 2000 enrolled.  These colleges and universities include Barry University (Miami), Broward Community College (Ft. Lauderdale), Nova Southeastern University (Ft. Lauderdale), Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale (Ft. Lauderdale), Keiser College (Ft. Lauderdale), and Miami-Dade Community College (Fort Lauderdale).  Communities that are close to colleges and universities benefit from storage facilities because students that are not taking classes in the summer are required to vacate their dorm rooms and would benefit from a nearby secure storage facility so they would not be required to haul their belongings home only to turn around and haul them back when they resume classes.

Hallandale Beach is a favorite location of tourists from Canada and the northern cold winter weather states.  This area is often referred to as the “southernmost Canadian city”. Many of these people end up retiring to this area for the entire year or just for the winter months due to the mild winters in Hallandale Beach.  Hallandale Beach is home to several RV parks and campgrounds that offer weekly and monthly rates.  These individuals that are spending the winters in Hallandale Beach are likely relocating to a smaller residence in Florida then where they originally lived and would benefit from nearby secure storage for their personal items. Others that only spend the winters each year in Hallandale Beach would benefit greatly from secure storage to keep items from year to year so they would be required to haul them back and forth each year.

The Broward County Chamber of Commerce offers businesses in Hallandale Beach and other cities within its boundaries the benefit of a program known as “A Referral You Can Count On” that works with local businesses by offering monthly and quarterly networking events for business people and assists them in promoting and marketing their business.

The year round residents or part year residents of the area can enjoy The Village at Gulfstream Park located next to the Gulfstream Park and Racetrack and Casino on South Federal Highway.  The Village at Gulfstream Parks which is an outdoor shopping and entertainment destination with fashion boutiques, home accessory shops, restaurants, outdoor cafes, and nightclubs.

As mentioned above the population density of Hallandale Beach is high meaning that quite a few of the residents in this city are living small houses or apartments that are likely licking in storage space meaning that the residents of this area would benefit from nearby self storage facilities to store their excess personal items or seasonal decorations.
