Using Our Garage Space for Gardening Gear

When last summer became the summer of the garden at our house in Hialeah, we needed some space for all the gardening gear we were going to use to plant and maintain our huge garden. We wanted to keep everything in the garage, but with all the random stuff that was in there, there just wasn't room for everything! So, we started checking out Hialeah Storage options to try to find one that would work well for us. That's when we found US Storage Centers Hialeah Storage

The US Storage Centers Hialeah Storage location on 76th turned out to be the perfect solution for our needs. We thought about actually just using it as an off site garden shed for a while, and keeping all our gardening tools and equipment there. But then we decided it would actually be easier and more efficient to clear out the garage and to use that garage space for the gardening gear. After all, the garage was full of many things that we only needed to access once in a while, whereas we would be using our gardening stuff on a very regular basis. (Probably more than we would like to at first!)

While we were in the process of choosing a Hialeah Storage unit for our garage stuff, we had a few pretty specific ideas in mind of what we would want from a storage unit that we rented. We got exactly what we were looking for with US Storage Centers Hialeah Storage location.

For one thing, the location was accessible. By that I mean that it was both easy for us to get to and easy for us to get into. We didn't want to have to drive more than a few minutes to get to our Hialeah Storage location, and we also didn't want to be restricted to accessing our self storage unit only during regular business hours or whatnot. With this particular Hialeah Storage location, we are able to get there in just a few minutes, and we can get into our storage unit using our gate code almost any time of the day, evening, or weekend.

Another thing we were looking for was good value for our money. We only looked at storage spaces that had relatively small unit sizes, since we didn't want to pay for storage space that we actually didn't need. With the small units at Hialeah Storage by US Storage Centers, the units were the perfect size, and the prices were very competitive. They may not be the rock bottom prices in town, but they gave us a combination of affordability along with a bunch of other things we were looking for, such as security and good customer service. We felt like we were getting the most bang for our buck out of a US Storage Centers Hialeah Storage location, as opposed to many of the other self storage locations in town.

Using Our Garden Shed For Gardening

The home that we bought here in Hialeah five years ago has this charming little matching garden shed out back. It's really adorable, but until recently, it wasn't ever used for anything like its original purpose. The shed was, instead, filled with any manner of random knick knacks and stuff that we didn't really have a place for in the house but didn't really want to get rid of.

Well, this winter I decided that it's time to get that garden shed cleared out so that I can actually use it for gardening! Even as I went through the things in the shed, though, I knew I wasn't going to be able to get rid of enough stuff to really make a difference in the amount of stuff there. That meant that I couldn't bring all the things in the garden shed back in the house just get clear out that space. I had to get a little more creative with what I decided to do to clean out the garden shed.

After looking around for some different options, I decided that the US Storage Centers Hialeah Self Storage location on 16th would be the perfect option for where I could store my things in order to make more room in the garden shed. I had heard from some friends that the US Storage Centers Hialeah Self Storage location was great, with good prices and great customer service. I trusted the opinions of these friends, so I decided to go check out the place for myself.

I must say that I was really quite impressed with the US Storage Centers Hialeah Self Storage location. The layout was nice, and everything was clean and tidy and well-kept. There are lights and cameras everywhere, which are great for safety at night and also for keeping away would-be thieves.

Also, the manager of the Hialeah Self Storage location explained that the place also had a very simple but effective security system. Basically, every unit had an individual alarm. I would get a gate code that would let me in the front gate while simultaneously disarming the alarm on my unit. When I used the same gate code to go back out the back gate, the unit would rearm. If someone tried to open the unit without first punching in the gate code, then the alarm would go off, alerting the manager to the problem.

The security system was really simple but it seemed like a really effective option. Besides the great security system and obviously good customer service – as shown by the very helpful US Storage Centers Hialeah Self Storage location manager – the place had some great prices! They were really competitive, and they offered lots of different unit sizes so I was able to meet my needs and stick to the ideal budget I had set for myself when I started the quest to find storage so I could clean out my garden shed.

Finding a Solution for My Business's Paperwork

Paperwork is pretty much the bane of my existence as a small business owner running a home business. Even though I have a relatively organized home office, I still have more paperwork than I know what to do with, and it gets so that it clutters up my office to the point where I can't even stand it anymore!

So, a few months ago, tired of constantly moving and knocking over stacks and piles of paperwork in my home office, I decided to find another solution. I searched and searched online for different options. I looked at various storage systems and file cabinets, but none of them would really work with the office space I had available. Then, I finally found the US Storage Centers Hialeah Self Storage location on 16th.

Even online, it seemed like the perfect solution for me. I wouldn't have to pay much to move all that paperwork into storage, where it would be whenever I needed it. So, I decided to check out the Hialeah Self Storage location in person. I was a little afraid that it wasn't going to live up to the photos and description on the internet, as lots of places don't! But I needn't have worried, since the US Storage Centers Hialeah Self Storage location was perfectly pleasant and in good order.

I talked with the manager for a few minutes about what I was looking for, and he suggested a great solution – the smallest unit the Hialeah Self Storage location had to offer. It was obviously the most affordable unit, too. But since I had a little more wiggle room in my budget and could use a little storage space for other things, too, I actually decided to opt for the next unit size up, which was about the size of a walk-in closet.

Immediately, I knew I'd landed on the perfect situation. I invested in a good file cabinet to go along one wall of my new Hialeah Self Storage unit. Then, I packed up the file cabinet with all sorts of paperwork that I could get out of my office. The only things I kept were outstanding invoices and things like that, which I was working with that very work week. Everything else was taken over to the storage unit and organized in the new filing cabinet.

It was so nice to have all that paperwork out of my office for once! There were no more piles and piles of paperwork, and I could finally see my desk. I kept one of those multi-level paperwork organizer things in my office for the paperwork I needed right away. Everything else, I diligently took over to the Hialeah Self Storage unit once a week or so.

Finding a Solution for Our Business's Tax Return Documents

One thing that you learn about pretty quickly when you start a business is just how important it is to document everything and to keep all those documents practically forever. It's just a good way to cover your behind, so to speak. As a business owner, you'll deal with tons of paperwork over the life of your business, and most of it will have to be filed away and kept for years on end before it can be destroyed.

One type of paperwork that needs to be kept for a long time is tax return documents. They're much more complicated for us businesses than they are for individuals who get a W-2 or two, and they involve tons and tons of extra paperwork to verify expenses and such. Well, you're supposed to keep old, filed tax returns for at least seven years before you destroy them. Seven years' worth of tax return documents makes for a lot of paperwork!

This is why my business actually uses off site storage for the old tax documents. I came across US Storage Centers Hialeah Storage location on 76th one day a couple of years ago when I was driving around town doing who knows what. The Hialeah Storage sign sparked my interest because I had been dealing just that week with our overflow of tax documents that I wasn't sure what to do with.

So the next day when I had a chance, I stopped by to talk to the manager of the Hialeah Storage location. He was quite friendly and immediately helped me figure out what I would need if I were going to rent a Hialeah Storage unit from him. We looked at a couple of different unit sizes, and I settled on a 5x10 unit. If I was going to rent one, why not rent one a little bigger than the smallest size? It didn't cost that much more, and it would give me a little more space for storing the items I needed to keep in my Hialeah Storage location.

That next week, my secretary and I worked on organizing the tax return documents into individual cardboard file boxes. When we had everything sorted and labeled, we took it over to the US Storage Centers Hialeah Storage unit. Even though the units looked to be as watertight as possible, I put packing pallets and a cloth down under the boxes. That was just in case water leaked under the door or the floor became damp. The packing pallets would keep the boxes themselves from wicking up water and ruining all the paperwork that was inside.

So once we had all the tax return documents from the business in the Hialeah Storage unit, we actually had plenty of space left over. I spent the next month or so sorting through our business offices. There were plenty of things we needed to keep but didn't necessarily need to have accessible or taking up space in the actual offices. I moved boxes of advertising materials that we go through rather slowly, boxes of extra office supplies, and boxes of old customer files that we sometimes use to get advertising ideas and direction.

Hialeah Storage 76th – Affordable Storage for My Small Business's Furniture

Running a staging business isn't like running any other kind of business on the planet, really. You can run the bulk of the business out of your home, but you've got to have plenty of room to store your furniture that you use to stage homes that are for sale. But you never know how much furniture you'll have in storage at any given time. Sometimes, I have two or three houses renting my staging furniture at once, and then my storage space is empty. At other times, business is slow, and all the furniture has to fit in my storage unit.

To make my business work cost effectively, I had to figure out a great self storage solution that would be affordable and easy to access for my staging business. So I looked at a few different storage places around town and finally came across the US Storage Centers Hialeah Storage location on 76th. The location was perfect – just in the midst of where I practice most of my business. There were a few other great selling points to it, as well, including great prices, excellent security, and wonderful customer service.

The prices of the Hialeah Storage units were great, and this was one of the main things I was concerned about with my business. I needed to be able to get a storage unit that was large enough to hold all my furniture, but I also needed to be able to fit the monthly payments into my business budget even when business was slow. The unit sizes at the US Storage Centers Hialeah Self Storage location were perfect for my needs, and the prices meant that I could easily afford to pay for my business storage unit, even when I wasn't bringing in a ton of money that month.

I was also concerned with security when it came to storage for my business. I wanted to be sure that the furniture I placed in storage would be safe from potential thieves, as well as from water damage. I had already written off a couple of other storage places in town that didn't have great security or that looked like their units were water damaged. The US Storage Centers location didn't seem to have water issues, and the security system was just what I was looking for.

The customer service I received at the US Storage Centers Hialeah Storage location, though, was what really sold me on it. The manager was very knowledgeable about the industry in general and was able to give me some great advice on how best to store my staging furniture so that it would stay in excellent shape while it was in storage.

For instance, the manager of the Hialeah Storage location let me know that even the most watertight storage units can have some problems with leakage and dampness, especially if the air gets really humid. The best way to protect against moisture on the floor, particularly, is to pack all the furniture up on packing crates or wooden boards that keep it from sitting directly on the floor. That was a pretty simple fix that I was definitely willing to do if it meant that I wouldn't ruin any furniture when the weather got humid!

Also, I could protect my furniture from both mold and dust by covering it with cotton drop cloths or sheets rather than with plastic. Plastic can trap the moisture against the furniture, which can cause mold and mildew. Cotton, though, is a breathable covering. It keeps dust from settling too much on furniture, but it also breathes so that furniture doesn't become moldy or rotted.

The manager of the self storage unit also told me that I should invest in bubble wrap for certain pieces. Lamp bases, mirrors, and artwork are all particularly prone to damage, and they're best protected with bubble wrap. Besides that, he said to protect the corners of my furniture with cardboard corner protectors. Corners are the most likely to damage other furniture, and they're the most likely to chip when they're hit. Protecting the corners is a really easy way to make sure that you're protecting your investment in your furniture in general.

The Hialeah Storage unit on 76th was the perfect solution for my staging business, and I've stuck with it for a few months now. Even in rough months for my business, I can still afford my Hialeah Self Storage unit, and it has plenty of room for all the furniture I need to store. The self storage location is perfect, too, so it's really easy for me to get my furniture out of storage when I'm ready to stage a new house that's just gone on the market and to put it back when I help that house sell!

Hialeah Self Storage – Storing Our Furniture While Downsizing

These days, you hear about lots of people downsizing their homes because of money and other reasons. We never thought we'd end up needing to downsize, but when my husband lost his job, we were left with no choice. Luckily for us, our home sold surprisingly quickly, and we were able to move into a smaller home without much wait time. That was a huge blessing!

The problem was that the fast pace of the entire downsizing process meant that we weren't really prepared for getting rid of things before we moved into our new home. We weren't really sure which pieces of extra furniture we would need – like our bookshelves and cabinets and such. Plus, the furniture that we didn't keep, we wanted to sell so that we could get a good price out of it and make a little money back on it, at least.

In order to keep from just tossing out furniture during our move, we decided to move all the non-essential pieces into a small Hialeah Self Storage unit. The US Storage Centers Hialeah Self Storage location on 16th was a great solution for us because it was close to our new, smaller home, it had great prices, and it offered month to month leases.

Having a month to month lease was important for us because it meant that we could get out of the storage unit as soon as we were done sorting through and selling furniture. We didn't really know how long that was going to take, so we didn't want to get a longer term lease that we would have to get out of eventually and might have to pay more to get out of.

The manager of the Hialeah Self Storage location was great. He was completely understanding of what we needed in a storage unit and of the fact that we needed to save some serious cash when we were storing our furniture, if at all possible.

It was great because he was actually willing to help us figure out how to get our furniture into a smaller space so that we wouldn't have to pay as much for our Hialeah Self Storage unit. He said that by standing our extra love seat on end, we would be able to really save a ton of floor space and downsize to a smaller unit.

The manager of the Hialeah Self Storage location also gave us some great furniture storage tips that would help us keep our furniture in good shape while it was in storage. Many of the tips he gave us had to do with water damage and mold protection. One thing you don't realize is that even the most water-tight storage unit can become damp because of humid air circulating in a non climate controlled environment. Plus, even the most well-built unit can have accidental leakage once in a while.

Storing Baby Stuff in Hialeah - 16th

Clearing Room for My Baby

When I got pregnant with my first baby, I was living by myself in a one bedroom apartment. I had big plans to move into a larger home soon, but it just wasn't in the cards until my baby was a few months old. Clearly, I didn't have a ton of extra space for a baby, but I was determined to do the best I could. One of the things that helped me clear out some space for my baby was my Hialeah Self Storage unit by US Storage Centers.

One thing I needed to do to get ready for my baby was to simply move some things out of my apartment. The problem was that I didn't necessarily have any place to put those things. My family didn't have room to store things for me, and neither did any of my friends. So, I decided to check out Hialeah Self Storage options, and that's when I came across US Storage Centers.

Really, I only needed a small storage space, so it was nice that the US Storage Centers Hialeah Self Storage location offered smaller units that were reasonably priced. As a soon to be single mom, I definitely was interested in saving money, so the fact that the storage location also offered some great discounts was a pretty big deal! I was also able to get my Hialeah Self Storage unit on a month to month lease. Since I wasn't exactly sure when I'd be moving into a bigger space and, thus, clearing out my storage unit, it was great to know I wouldn't have to worry about paying extra for breaking a lease on my storage unit.

Another reason that I chose the US Storage Centers Hialeah Self Storage unit was that it was very secure. I wasn't leaving anything particularly valuable in storage, but it was nice to know that the things I was leaving there would be as secure as possible from potential thieves and other problems – like water leakage. The units were watertight and clean, so I didn't have to worry about that particular problem at all.

Also, each unit had an individual alarm. I thought the way that the system worked at the Hialeah Self Storage location was pretty interesting. You had to punch in a gate code to disarm the alarm on your unit. If someone opened the unit without punching in the code first, the alarm would go off, alerting the on site manager to the problem! Besides these more high-tech measures, though, the Hialeah Self Storage location was secure in the old-fashioned way – with lots of lights and cameras that would deter criminals from trying to break in in the first place!

Storing Baby Stuff in Hialeah - 76th

Storing Stuff for the Next Kid

When you plan on having multiple kids, especially if you're going to space them close together, it's always a good idea to save the reusable stuff from the first kid so the next kid can use it. That's what my husband and I decided to do! After all, we were generously given lots of things for our first baby, but we were pretty much going to be on our own for our second. Why not reuse a perfectly good car seat, crib, changing table, and the like?

Our problem, of course, was figuring out where to put the stuff our first baby outgrew until we'd need it for the second baby. I mean, we wanted to space our kids close together, but not right on top of each other. There was about a year there where we didn't really need the tiny baby stuff in the house at all.

At first, we tried to store all those things in the attic, but there wasn't space to fit everything. Then we tried to put stuff in the garage, but it took up the second parking space, which was just a pain. Finally, we decided the best solution would be to store the baby stuff away from our home in a Hialeah Storage unit. We decided to look at different Hialeah Storage locations so we could find one that would work well for our needs.

A quick search brought us to US Storage Centers Hialeah Storage location. We chose US Storage Centers first of all because of its prices advertised online, but we decided to stick with that storage option for a few other reasons, too. The prices really are great, and they run lots of specials, so you can usually get a good deal on the first few months' worth of your rental.

We also chose the Hialeah location for US Storage Centers, though, because it was clean, well-lit, and definitely secure. The manager talked us through how the entire security system worked, starting with the cameras and lights everywhere and ending with the individually alarmed units. We were quite impressed. Since we were leaving a lot of expensive baby stuff at the Hialeah Storage location, we did want to make sure it was going to be safe from water damage and thieves alike. The units were clean and definitely not prone to leaks.

One other thing we loved about the US Storage Centers Hialeah Storage location was that we could just sign a month to month lease. Since we didn't know exactly when we'd be having another baby and would need all these things out of storage, we wanted to make sure we weren't going to be locked into a lease past the point when we needed the storage unit. After all, the point was to save money over the long run – not to spend money on storage we no longer needed!

A Place for My Kayaking Gear

Sea kayaking is a relatively new hobby of mine, but it's one that I think I'm going to hang on to for a while. There's just nothing like getting out off of the coast in a kayak that I have total control of. The problem, of course, is that sea kayaking takes a lot of gear. Just the kayak itself takes up a ton of space, not to mention the paddles, vests, and other things I need for a kayaking trip – especially one where I plan to camp out. That's why I use a Hialeah Storage unit at US Storage Centers to store my sea kayaking gear whenever I'm not using it.

I know a few other people that I kayak with who are lucky enough to have room in their garages for their kayaks and gear. I wish I were among them, but I don't even have a garage at the moment! So when I first got into sea kayaking, I wasn't sure I was going to be able to keep up with the hobby. I mean, sure, you can rent kayaking gear for a random weekend trip, but renting it isn't like having your own. Plus, in the long run, if you're going to be really into kayaking and go all the time, then it's cheaper to actually just buy your own gear.

I was going back and forth about whether or not I could afford to get sea kayaking gear – not because I didn't have the money for my new hobby but because I didn't know where the heck I would put it. I could probably have stored it at my parents' house, but they live far enough away that it would have been a big hassle. Probably, I would have ended up hardly ever using my kayak because it would have just been so annoying to have to go get it every time I wanted to get out on the water.

A friend had had a Hialeah Self Storage unit at US Storage Centers when she moved, though, and she suggested that I rent a US Storage Centers Hialeah Self Storage unit for my kayaking gear. At first, it seemed kind of weird. I mean, who rents a storage unit for something that they are actually planning to use all the time?

But I actually found out from the manager when I went to check out the Hialeah Self Storage location that it's not that uncommon for people to rent storage units for things they use often. Some people rent them for fishing gear or for cars that they drive on the weekends or whatever. I guess it was just something I hadn't ever thought of before.

Getting My Fishing Gear Out of the Garage

One of the problems you have when you have lots of hobbies is that lots of hobbies means lots of hobby-related gear. At least, this is a problem that I have! I'm a bit of a handy man and wood worker, which means that my garage is packed with all sorts of tools. Plus, I like to ride my motorcycle on the weekends, and it takes up another part of my garage. My other favorite pastime is fishing, which I do at least every other weekend. The problem is that with my motorcycle and my woodworking tools, there's just not a lot of room in the garage for my fishing gear. That's why I use a Hialeah Self Storage unit at US Storage Centers to store my fishing gear.

When my garage started to get overly full, I was really starting to lose it. I hate disorganization, and there was just no way to keep my garage organized with everything I was trying to pack into it. Plus, it was nearly impossible to actually do my woodworking in the garage because of everything I had in there. I knew that something had to give, and I decided to store my fishing gear elsewhere to free up some valuable space in my garage.

It made the most sense to store my fishing gear off site, since fishing was something I always did away from home, anyway. I mean, I wouldn't want to run over to a storage unit to get the woodworking gear I needed to work on a project at home! With my fishing tackle and rods, though, I was going to go away from home to fish, anyway, so it seemed logical that I could just store my fishing stuff somewhere besides my own home.

I didn't have a ton of extra cash to spend on storage, but it was important to me that I put my fishing stuff someplace close to home and secure. That's why I chose US Storage Centers Hialeah Self Storage. The Hialeah Storage center was within a short drive of my home, and it was easy for me to get to before or after a fishing trip so that I could easily pick up my gear or drop it of after a fishing trip.

Besides that, the Hialeah Storage center was really secure. There are video cameras everywhere, and the manager lives on side. Both of those things obviously deter people from even attempting to break into the units there. Plus, all the units have individual alarms, so I knew that my fishing gear was going to be safe in the unit there.

My Self Storage Story - Hialeah 16th

self-storage-storiesWhittling Down My Personal Possessions

There comes a time in your life when you just realize you have way too much stuff. Between the extra kitchen appliances, furniture that's really just cluttering up my living room, and endless knickknacks, I just needed to get rid of some stuff. Plus, I needed some extra cash recently, which made me determined to get rid of some things at a profit if at all possible. So, I decided to use Craigslist to get rid of all the extra junk in my house that I no longer needed but that someone, somewhere probably did. Luckily, I was also able to get my house cleared out in the process of selling stuff by using a Hialeah Self Storage location called US Storage Centers.

The key to making sales on Craigslist, I've learned, is to take good pictures, write solid descriptions, and set reasonable prices. However, it's also a good idea to have a public place in mind where you can meet people who want to look at your stuff. That's why I decided to rent the Hialeah Self Storage unit for when I was getting rid of the bulk of my junk on Craigslist.

I searched around for good prices and found US Storage Centers Hialeah Self Storage, and I decided to rent a unit there because it was close to home and was very secure. Most of the stuff I was selling on Craigslist wasn't worth a whole lot, but some of it was actually worth a pretty penny. I didn't want it to randomly disappear after I'd invited someone to look at something else I had stored in the unit. It was also helpful that I could get into my unit even at odd hours and that everything was well-lit so that I could go over there at night without worrying about it.

I sorted through my house and came up with boxes and boxes of stuff, as well as larger items like furniture and small kitchen appliances, that I wanted to list on Craigslist. I literally spent an entire weekend taking photos and posting everything, and then I carted it over to my new Hialeah Self Storage unit and put it away carefully so that I knew where everything was.

My Self Storage Story - Hialeah 76th

Storing My Card Collection

When you've been collecting baseball cards for as long as I have – over fifty years – you can end up with quite a large card collection. You wouldn't think, of course, that a baseball card collection could possibly take up that much room, but the truth is that it really can, especially when you have framed editions of certain special cards. When I moved into a tiny assisted living apartment for my health and my children's sanity, I wasn't sure what I was going to do with my baseball card collection. Luckily, I quickly found a Hialeah Storage location called US Storage Centers.

There were a few things I needed when it came to a storage option for my baseball cards. I needed a storage center located in Hialeah so that it would be close enough for me to drive to, and I also needed to feel that my baseball cards were very secure. They mean a lot to me, for one thing, but they're also worth quite a bit to the right people. I actually planned to sell them off a little at a time to pay for my retirement, and I knew my children would sell off most of the rest when I was gone as part of their inheritance.

Luckily, I found US Storage Centers Hialeah Storage. It was a reasonable distance from the assisted living home – close enough that I could still easily get to it on my own. I may need a little assistance now and again, but I'm not completely helpless, after all! The Hialeah Storage center was also very secure. I made sure to talk to the manager in detail about all the security measures at the facility.

The storage facility looked secure to begin with, but I knew that wasn't enough to convince me that it really was secure. So I definitely investigated the security measures more before I decided to rent a unit for my baseball cards. What I learned was great.
