Hialeah, Florida is located in Miami-Dade County in southeast part of the state and encompasses 19.7 square miles of which 0.5 square miles are water. This is the 5th largest city in Florida. Hialeah is locate3d 20 minutes northwest of Miami, 25 minutes northwest of Miami Beach, and 25 minutes north of Coral Gables. Hialeah is considered party of the Miami Metropolitan Area and the Greater Southern Florida Metropolitan Area.

Hialeah is made up of the following neighborhoods: Andrews Park, Carole Ann Park, Central Hialeah, Deer Park, Downtown, East Hialeah, El Prado, El Prado County Club, Essex Village, Ingleside Park, Knights Park, Lago Grande, Lake Adele, Lake Patricia, Linden Gardens, Mango Hill, Palm Springs, Palm Spring Estates, Rosedale Park, Saratoga Heights, Seminola, Suntan Village, Trojan Park, Ulelah, West Bueno Vista, West Hialeah, Westhaven Heights, and Westhaven Park.

Hialeah has access to I-95, I-75, the Palmetto Expressway, the Sawgrass Expressway, and the Florida Turnpike.  Amtrak, Tri-Rail, and Metro-Rail stations are located in Hialeah.  This area also has access to the Opa-Locka and Miami International Airports, and the Port of Miami.

As of 2010 Hialeah was the fifth largest city in Florida based on population. In 2004 Hialeah was ranked 22nd by Inc. Magazine’s list of “Top 25 Cities for Doing Business in America”.  Hialeah is the commercial center of Miami-Dade County and has stores operated by several national retailers. 

Hialeah ranks number 2 (with nearby Hialeah Gardens ranking as number 1) of U.S. cities where Spanish is mostly spoken. This city has the second highest percentage of Cuban and Cuban Americans residents of any city in the United States.

 The 2009 population of Hialeah was 218,896. The estimated median household income in 2009 was $29,596. The median age of Hialeah residents in 2009 was 37.7 years. The estimated median house or condo value in 2009 was $203,200.  The median gross rent in 2009 was $911.  The of living in Hialeah is higher than average.

The population density as of 2009 was high with 11,376 people per square mile. The racial demographic of Hialeah (2009) showed – Hispanic 96.1%, 4.4% White, 0.7% African American, and 0.3% Asian. The foreign born population of this city is significantly above state average.

The second largest Spanish speaking TV network in the United States, Telemundo, is headquartered here.  Other local businesses that are major employers in the city include Navarro Discount Pharmacies, Inc. (the largest Hispanic-owned pharmacy chain) which is headquartered in Miami, Sedano’s Supermarket (the largest Hispanic-owned supermarket chain in the United States) which originated in Hialeah, Hialeah Hospital, Palm Springs General Hospital, Palmetto General Hospital, and Hialeah Race Track. Hialeah Racetrack is located in this city. Not only does this track feature year horseracing but is also an entertainment complex that includes hotel, restaurants, casinos, stores, and a theatre.

 As you can see the construction industry ranks very high and transportation industry is also significant.  Both of these industries could no doubt benefit from nearby storage buildings.

Hialeah is home to several colleges and universities such as Florida National College, Miami-Dade Community College, University of Dental School Annex, Hialeah International Technologies Product Improvement Center (HIT/PIC), Florida National College, Beauty Schools of America, National School of Technology Inc., La Bell Beauty School, Comp-Med Vocational Careers Corp, Automotive Transmission School, and International Unisex Academy.  With students moving in and out of this area throughout the year to attend college or leave for summer break, students would benefit greatly from storage units for their personal items during these transition periods.

Hialeah is a very active city with 3 tennis centers, several public swimming pools and aquatic centers, and public parks that total over 100 combined acres.

The Hialeah-Dade Development Inc. is a private, non-profit corporation responsible for the economic development of this area.

As with many cities in Florida, this area attracts what are commonly referred to as snowbirds (people coming from the colder northern states to spend the winter in Florida).  Many of these part-time residents live in mobile homes or RVs where they have very little storage space are seeking storage solutions.  Also many of these people return to this area year after year and would benefit from a nearby secure storage facility to store their items so they will not need to haul them back north just to haul them back when they return the following year.

As mentioned above the population density of Hialeah is high meaning that many of the residents of this city are living in small homes or apartments and likely lacking in storage space.  These year round residents would benefit greatly from nearby secure storage to keep their excess personal items, sporting equipment, or seasonal items.
