One of the easiest ways to get rid of items in plain sight withOUT actually getting rid of them is to make the most out of the horizontal space underneath your bed. Use sliding or rolling storage bins for things like extra blankets, shoes, purses or seasonal items. Label each container to know what’s inside. 2. If you have a lot of miscellaneous items lying around that you don’t want to take out of the bedroom, think of the way they are arranged. Think artsy. Stack the books or magazines together and group and position everything in a way that looks more like organized artistic chaos than, plain chaos. Like you see below :) 3. An easy trick to make the bedroom look clean is to make your bed each morning. There was a reason our parents pushed us to do it when we were little. Sometimes, an overall messy look can be fixed simply by working on the centerpiece of the room. The biggest piece: the bed. 4. Think of hidden storage ideas. For example, the nightstand could be a chest or a wicker trunk, with plenty of space inside to hide seasonal items or items you want to keep in the room but don’t use on a daily basis. Another practical nightstand idea would be one with extra shelves, so you can take advantage of all possible storage space and visually remove things from the floor or middle of the room, off to the side. 5. Don’t forget the dresser drawers. Take out anything you’re not using, throw it out, give it away or donate it. Then, consider using drawer organizers (Ikea, Target and Walmart for example have affordable options) to separate the items that go inside for easy picking when you need them. Before we let you go, keep these 3 simple steps in mind. They should be part of your daily routine and will not only help keep things where they belong, but make your room appear neater and bigger. Make your bed everyday. Always open the blinds or curtains, to let the sun in. Avoid the temptation of throwing previously worn clothes or used items, either on the floor, or on any piece of furniture. Hang your clothes in place (or put them in the dirty hamper) and put the other items back in their place. – Putting 2 items back in their place is much easier than having to sort through and putting away 20 at the end of the week.
