So you actually did it. You and your band picked up and moved to Nashville. You figure it will only take three or four years to become an overnight success. Until then, you figure on doing a few gigs a week in neighboring states and towns to keep the lights on and try out your new material. You have a good band and great songs and each member of your group knows that it isn’t going to be easy. You will do what it takes though. Here are some tips that might help make it easier for you. Keep your music safe The first thing you need to do when you hit town is find a place to store your equipment. If you are on a budget, and the five of you are going to share a place, you won’t have room for you and your equipment, especially with some of the shows you will be playing. US Storage Centers in Nashville has the place for you. Your equipment will be safe in one of our climate-controlled units. We know how heat can affect instruments and electronic equipment. You can rehearse at your place with a few pigs (the small amplifier brand not a squealing barbecue waiting to happen) and a small drum set; then leave your large amplifiers, speakers, keyboards, drum sets, and lights with us. No matter how much equipment you brought with you, you will find you need more as you go. Having a safe place to keep your investment will be less for you to worry about. Get Organized Next, you will want to layout your storage unit based on your show. If it’s a small club, you can make do with a smaller percussion set, fewer guitar changes, only two keyboards, and leave the line-array loudspeakers, but take the columns. If you have your small show organized together for quick pick up, you can schedule your departure down to the minute and show up to your gig with plenty of time to set up; and you didn’t forget a thing. If you are doing an outdoor show, grab everything. Just make sure you put everything back in nice order afterward. Make Rules If your equipment belongs to the band, you will want to make sure to keep it safe and accounted for. Make sure you make some rules on equipment use. Some bands won’t lend out their equipment after being burned a few times when their sound board disappeared. You may want to make sure only the band owners have keys to the unit. Hired guns with the security code and a key can disappear with your good stuff if you ever have a falling out. Costume Change Depending on your band, you can keep your wardrobe with your equipment to make sure everything makes it on your trip. A portable hanging rack works nice. It can be the first item you load in the trailer. You can leave it in your trailer at the concert if you like, making your trailer a great makeshift costume changing room. Our Nashville self storage facility is dedicated to making your life easier. We hope to see you at the top some day.
