The Tucson Motor Speedway has had a long and illustrious past. One of only three race tracks in the entire state of Arizona, it practically represents the Southwest and all the rabid NASCAR fans you find here. Considering it was built in 1968, you would think that there are quite a number of great races held here in the nearly fifty years it has been in operation. The truth of the matter? That is absolutely right! Tucson Motor Speedway is one of the oldest continuously running tracks on the NASCAR circuit. Though it is not as notorious as Daytona, Texas Motor Speedway, or Talladega Super Speedway, it has still seen a number of great people and great races. So let’s talk about some of the best ones in recent memory. Truck Racing Tucson Motor Speedway has races going every Saturday without fail unless there is a Sprint Cup race happening in Phoenix, making it a hub of motorhead activity in the Southwest. The single most popular event that happens here is the Craftsman Truck Series, which is also run by NASCAR. It is a regular host to truck races both during the on and offseason and actually hosted the second ever Craftsman Truck Series championship race in 1995. Specialty Events More than NASCAR racing happens at Tucson Speedway. It is also host to a number of other popular motorized events that happen during the county fair and when no races are going on during the weekdays. Monster trucks rallies are very popular here to the point that even the great Goliath and Grave Robber have performed here on a number of occasions. The demolition derby is another regularly occurring event. So while it may not be truly a famous stadium, there are plenty of opportunities to enjoy yourself and your favorite drivers. So be sure to stop by. Who knows what great race you might miss. Message brought to you by US Storage Centers in Tucson, AZ. US Storage Centers 4115 East Speedway Tucson, AZ 85712 (520) 442-0010
