The only thought that is keeping your spirits up is that you are moving to one of the most exciting places in the world, Las Vegas, Nevada. Moving to a new city can cause some anxiety since everything is new and unknown but we've put together a three part series of Las Vegas self storage tips that will put you at ease and put the odds in your favor. Storing Electronics – Tip #1 A person’s electronics can be their most prized possession, so carefully packaging and storing these items in a storage unit is important. It is much more cost effective to properly package your electronics than to buy brand new ones. The first thing you would want to do is unplug all the wires connected to the power outlet, this allows you to safely remove wires from the electronic device and properly store them. Use tape, string, or zip-ties to keep the cords from tangling. Those cables are essential and very tricky to figure out so make sure to label them so there is no confusion. This not only takes the stress away from trying to figure out where cables go, but also gives you more time to start using your electronics. Once the cords are properly bundled you must start packing your device. If you still have the original box then you would want to put it back exactly how it arrived. This will protect your items from damage during transportation. However, if you do not have the original packaging, purchase a box that would fit snug around the device and wrap soft material around it to protect or cushion from any type of impact. Consider buying bubble wrap or foam wrap specifically used for electronics from our Las Vegas location in order to ensure proper care. Our managers at our self storage facility, located on Annie Oakley Drive, have been part of the industry a very long time and are fully aware of how precious your belongings are. They will be more than happy to give you their insight on how to properly use bubble or foam wrap to avoid any damage. Transporting these electronics is also tricky. You want to make sure you are transporting them in a smaller vehicle away from the large heavy objects that could potentially fall and damage your device. Your electronics must also be the first to be placed into your home or storage unit in order to avoid damage or theft. Moving electronics is stressful but with these helpful self storage tips you will be more than ready to make that transition smoothly. Please check back Monday for clothing storage tips!
