Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday we have tips in store for you, here on our blog. For even more tips, latest news and Giveaway updates, LIKE our Facebook.com/USStorageCenters page. Disassemble beds but mark the pieces so you don’t forget how to put them back together. Forgetting what goes where, happens really often. Store mattresses and box springs flat and try elevating them off of the floor. The best way to pack lamps, is to separate the bases from the lampshades and wrap them individually for protection. Pictures, mirrors all should be wrapped in cardboard or bubble wrap, and marked “FRAGILE.” Make sure you stand them straight up and never flat. Appliances should be thoroughly clean and dry and it’s best to keep the refrigerator and freezer doors slightly open to avoid unpleasant scents. Don’t forget to remove and discard vacuum cleaner bags. Try using boxes that are the same size. They will be easier to stack. Remember to always stack the heavy boxes at the bottom and the lighter ones on top. When stacking, be aware that if they’re only half-filled, they will collapse more easily, if anything is placed on top of them. Even if your boxes are only halfway filled, try filling them to the top. That will help avoid breakages or collapses. You can use towels or crumpled papers and magazines to fill your boxes up. Storing books on their side, can damage their spines. Try packing your books flat. Don't store brushes resting on the bristles either, they will get damaged. Don’t ignore your out-of-season clothes and keep them somewhat accessible. You just never know if you need to have your belongings in a storage longer than planned. And lastly, Remember to store items you’ll frequently use at the front of the unit so you won’t find yourself digging through all the stuff to find them. Also, more valuable items should be stored towards the back of the unit for safety. Thank you for giving this a read, US Storage Centers
