We were lucky enough to participate in the Forever Young Run on April 19th. While our donation was a small one, lending a moving truck to the organizers of the event, we want to congratulate all of runners who participated in the run. One of our favorite parts of the run was the Hot Rod Alley. There was a plethora of awesome hot rods on display. Congrats to Jim Carr and his ’37 red Chevy for winning the Best of Show at that the race. What a beautiful car! The event had someone thing for everyone. There was the Drummer Alley where talented drummers from all over the city came together to rock out some awesome beats and give the runners an exciting soundtrack to run to. There was also the Honor Mile, where pictures of fallen soldiers from our city were honored. There were flags flying and live bagpipes playing, giving a solemn background for that portion of the run. Wild Hog Highway greeted the runners with Harleys and custom choppers. There were some amazing motorcycles on display and lots of biker sounds to encourage everyone running toward the finish line. The funniest part of the course had to be the super hero section where costumed characters gave high fives to all the runners, bringing a bit of Hollywood to Glendale. Darth Vader was a huge hit, using “the Force” to spur the runners on. And, of course, there was the Cheer Squad made up of cheerleaders and performers to give the runner that last bit of encouragement they needed to make it to the finish line. The one thing we learned most from this run is how important it is that everyone, regards of age, get out and exercise. The race took place though out the city and then finished with a nature run through the New River Nature Trail. Experiencing how beautiful our city is through the eyes of a running competition really drove home how friendly Glendale is to anyone wanting to walk, jog, or run next to some inspiring vistas. This as an amazing event for everyone who attended. We want to thank everyone for took the time to organize this event and our fellow sponsors for bringing such an exciting family friendly race to our city. This is it!
