Information You Provide: We may receive and store any information that you provide to us or that we learn about you from your use of the Site or other sources that would allow us to identify you personally. This information is referred to as Personally Identifiable Information, or “PII,” and includes information such as (but not limited to):
- first and last name,
- postal address,
- home and/or mobile phone numbers,
- email address,
- payment/credit card information,
- social security number (whole or partial),
- driver’s license number, passport number or other identification,
- insurance coverage information,
- your account number,
- employment history, information in a job application, such as a resume, and,
- any other information that you choose to provide that would allow us to identify you personally.
For example, you may provide PII to us when you make a reservation for our storage services, enter into a lease/rental agreement with us, use our Site to "move in" to your leased space with us, use automatic bill pay, enter into your lease using the Site’s online leasing functions, make a payment on your account, order moving and packing supplies, make a customer service request or inquiry, or apply for a job with us. We might also receive PII about you from third party data sources or marketing partners and we may add this PII to the information that we collect about you.
Information Automatically Collected: We also automatically receive and store certain types of non-personal information whenever you visit the Site through the use of electronic technology such as "cookies" and “Web beacons,” which is discussed below. We, and third parties on the Site, may automatically collect certain types of passive, anonymous information whenever you use the Site, such as your Internet Protocol address, your computer's operating system, the name of the domain you used to access the Internet, the website you came from and the website you visit next. This data is used in the aggregate, that is, as a statistical measure, and not in a manner that is intended to identify you personally. If we collect this information, it will be done passively through the use of certain electronic technologies, such as cookies, web beacons, pixels, clear GIFs (and similar technologies) as explained below.
Cookies: We and our advertising partners may use "cookies." When you use the Site, the pages you see, along with "cookies," may be downloaded to your computer or other device that you use to access the Site. Cookies are small pieces of information that are stored by your browser on your device or computer. These cookies may be used to deliver content specific to your interests and for other purposes, such as security and administrative functions. For example, cookies are used to store your preferences for certain types of information so that you do not have to input those preferences every time you use the Site. You may opt out of receiving cookie-based advertising from Google by visiting the Google advertising opt-out page and/or from other third party vendors by visiting the Advertising Initiative opt out page. You may also modify your cookie settings in your browser through your browser settings. Please note that if you set your browser to disable cookies you may not be able to fully access and use all of our services. Also, please be aware that third parties, such as companies displaying advertisements on the Site or services provided by third parties that may be linked to from the Site services, may set cookies on your hard drive or use other means of passively collecting information about your use of their services, Third-Party Sites or content. We do not have access to, or control over, these third-party means of passive data collection.
Web beacons: We and our advertising partners may also use web beacons, pixels and clear GIFs (collectively referred to as “Web beacons”). These electronic technologies are transparent image files that, if used, allow us and our advertising partners to track website usage information, such as the number of times a given web page has been viewed and whether and when you have opened a HTML email, how many times the email was forwarded and which links in the email were clicked. Unlike cookies, these technologies are not placed on your computer or device. This information helps us to improve our Site and our services and helps our advertising partners by measuring the effectiveness of these communications with you. These technologies may be used in association with cookies to understand how visitors interact with our Site or advertisements made by our advertising partners.
Location information: Some of our digital properties may collect your location to help you search for one of our stores or to use special mobile features within some of our stores. For example, US Storage Centers works with third parties to provide you helpful messaging in your mobile app when you come to our stores. We also may use this information to determine whether to provide you with content, information, and notices that may be required by law based on your location.
For any mobile application to identify your location, you must enable location services through your mobile device's settings. If you do not want US Storage Centers to collect this information or to enable these features, you can turn off location services on your mobile device. US Storage Centers has no control over your device's settings.
Store cameras: Our stores may use cameras for asset protection and other operational purposes, such as measuring traffic patterns and protecting and improving our business.
Reviews and other content you provide: Our websites offer publicly accessible blogs or community forums. Be aware that anyone who accesses these areas may read, collect, and use the information you provide.
Use of Information Collected: We use your Information to provide you with our storage and other related services, including without limitation responding to your requests, reserving a storage unit, paying bills, leasing space online or at the store, purchasing storage supplies and other special promotions and generally to customize, personalize, analyze, evaluate and improve the Site and your services needs. We also use your information to enforce your agreements with us, prevent fraud, address security hazards, and other prohibited or illegal activities, for other legally permissible purposes and generally to ensure that we comply with applicable laws. Your information may also be used for marketing or promotional information that we believe may be of interest to you, to tailor advertisements (aka “interest-based” advertising), content, and other aspects of your experience on and in connection with the services we provide; to maintain a record of our dealings with you; for other administrative purposes; to process job applications and for recruitment purposes, and for any other purposes that we may disclose to you at the point at which we request your Personal Information, and pursuant to your consent.
Information Retention: We may retain your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you services, comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements.
Co-Branded Product / Service Offerings: We may disclose PII to third-party service providers (e.g., payment processing and data storage and processing facilities) that assist us in our work. We limit the Personal Information provided to these service providers to that which is reasonably necessary for them to perform their functions. We may also share PII in connection with financial products or services related to our business, such as VaultDrop LLC, a cloud storage service product that we may offer as a customer perk/promo upon renting at our facilities.
To Protect our Interests: We also disclose PII if we believe that doing so is in our interest to protect our property or other legal rights (including, but not limited to, enforcement of our agreements), or the rights or property of others, or otherwise to help protect the safety or security of our services and other users of the services. This may also include disclosure of Personal Information to a credit bureau or collection agency. We may also disclose Personal Information required by law, such as to comply with a subpoena or other legal process, or to respond to a government request.
Transactions: Information about our users, including PII, may be disclosed and otherwise transferred to an acquirer, or successor or assignee as part of any merger, acquisition, debt financing, sale of our assets, or similar transaction, as well as in the event of an insolvency, bankruptcy, or receivership in which Personal Information is transferred to one or more third parties as one of our business assets.
How We Protect Your Information: We use reasonable security measures to safeguard the security of the data you send us with physical, electronic and managerial procedures. Please be aware, however, that no data security measures can be guaranteed to be completely effective. We urge you to take every precaution to protect your personal data when you are on the internet and/or our Site. For example, you should create a strong password and protect against unauthorized access to your password and your computer. Be sure to sign off when finished using a shared computer and do not share your password with anyone. You can refer to the Federal Trade Commission’s website at http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/menus/consumer/data.shtm for information on how to protect yourself from identity theft.

- Update and correct your personal information
- Deactivate your account

- Follow the directions in a marketing e-mail, direct mail, or mobile communication that you receive from us
- Provide your request and current contact information through one of the contact methods listed under "Contact Us" below
Please note: Even if we are able to anonymize or make your content or information no longer visible, this does not ensure complete or comprehensive removal of your content or personal information from the Internet.

We encourage you to read the privacy policies for these other websites, as they may differ from ours.
Protecting Children’s Privacy: Children under 13 should not send any PII to US Storage Centers. We are committed to protecting children's privacy on the Internet and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13.
Your California Privacy Rights: California law permits customers of US Storage Centers who are California residents to request certain information regarding our disclosure of personal information to third parties for their direct marketing purposes.
