When Spring begins to roll around, many of us tend to get a little antsy thinking about how our homes have gotten become unorganized. That is why spring cleaning is an annual to-do in many of our lives. But where is the best place to start? At our Memphis storage unit facility, we put our heads together and came up with a few tips to help you get your spring cleaning underway in an organized manner. These tips will help you handle your house room by room, and we hope they help to reduce your level of stress throughout the ordeal. Bedrooms In each bedroom, you will want to go through all of the clothing and remove all of the sheets and curtains. Then: Consign or donate clothing you do not need or want anymore; Wash the sheets, pillow cases, blankets, and curtains; Declutter the top of the dressers; Vacuum or sweep under the beds; and Wash windows. Bathrooms The bathrooms will need a deep cleaning. Scour the shower and tub; Sanitize the toilet, sink, counters, and floor (save the floor for the last thing that you do); Polish faucets and mirrors; Clean out drawers and under the sink; Wash any rugs, decorative hand towels, curtains; and Wash windows. Kitchen The kitchen is one of the most intimidating rooms when it is time to spring clean, but it is really not as bad as it seems. Take everything out of the refrigerator and thoroughly clean the refrigerator, both inside and out; Clean out cabinets – check for expired foods; Organize cabinets, cupboards, and drawers; Thoroughly clean oven, stove, and microwave; Wash windows; Wash curtains; and Scrub and sanitize counters and floors. Living Room Beyond the kitchen, the living room is probably the second most intimidating room to spring clean. Throw away any old magazines and newspapers; Dust ceiling fans and vents; Declutter desk and tables; Wash windows; Wash curtains; and Deep-clean any carpeting. Basement Replace any burned out light bulbs; Clean out dryer vent that leads outside; Stack any boxes or containers that are down there neatly; Test your sump-pump; and Sweep the stairs and the floor. Garage Tidy up any tools; Declutter; Check the garage doors for any gaps that could allow pests in – fix if you find any; Hang up any bikes you have stored in there to save some space; and Sweep stairs and floor. We hope this list helped you get your spring cleaning tackled with less stress.
