To maximize your moving efforts, we’ve put together a list of BOX LABELING and INVENTORY IDEAS that will help you stay incredibly organized and on top of all deliveries.

1. Use the thickest, darkest marker that you can find, for labeling the boxes. Pencils, pens, or light markers will be almost impossible to see even from a few feet away, let alone the back of your storage unit.

2. Label each box on all 4 sides. That way, if a box gets turned around, you can still identify its contents.

3. Label each box with the abbreviated name of the room its contents came from, followed by a box number. Here’s an example: “BTH2-3” which stands for "second bathroom, 3rd box." You can then track each box to make sure everything arrived safely.

4. Don’t forget about he ‘Open First’ boxes where it applies. Details in our previous blog: http://bit.ly/12N2lzp

5. Mark "Fragile" where appropriate.

6. Keep a clipboard handy, and write down each box's room, the box number and the contents. Graph paper is best for keeping things recorded neatly.

7. When unloading our items, cross reference each box against your records, and check them off as they get unloaded at your new place. You’ll be able to know immediately, if everything arrived safely.

Tell us what you think of our tips HERE.

With you in mind,

US Storage Centers
