Is there anything that makes you more excited for the holiday season than baked goods? From healthy pumpkin treats to fresh-out-of-the-oven chocolate chip cookies, the holidays are swarming with the best goodies. And they’re the best time to bake as the days are getting shorter and colder. Plus you’re probably around family members or hosting parties, and it’s always a must to have homemade goods. While there are so many options to choose from, we decided to share one of our favorite recipes with you all this year – the classic sugar cookie. This cookie is loved by all and is an easy and festive to prepare. INGREDIENTS 3 c Flour 1 tsp. Baking Soda ¾ tsp. Baking Powder ¼ tsp. Salt 1 c Butter (softened) ½ c Light Brown Sugar 1 c White Sugar 1 Egg 1 tsp. Vanilla Extract SUPPLIES Small Bowl Large Bowl Cookie Cutters INSTRUCTIONS Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F. In the Small Bowl, stir together Flour, Baking Soda, Baking Powder, and Salt. In the Large Bowl, mix the Butter, Brown Sugar, and White Sugar until it is creamy and smooth. Beat in the Egg and Vanilla Extract. In small doses, add in the dry mixture from Step 2 and ensure ingredients are all blended well. Roll out the dough on a clean counter top or large tray. Use Cookie Cutters to make the cookies into desired shape and place onto an ungreased, but slightly powdered cookie sheet. Bake about 10 minutes until the cookies because golden brown. Remove from oven and let sit on a wire rack for at least 20 minutes. BONUS TIPS: Make your cookie extra-. Smash a candy cane and add the pieces to your batter to create a peppermint sugar cookie. You can even melt some chocolate and dip half the cookie in to create a peppermint bark sugar cookie. Make your cookie (somewhat) healthy.
