The weather does cool in the fall and winter in Vegas, and because of this change, you need a good clothing storage strategy for your storage unit so your items are easily accessible when the seasons change. In our previous Las Vegas Self Storage Tips post, we discussed how to store your electronic devices. In this second part of our series, we’re sharing clothing storage advice: Before you begin packing your clothes, you’ll want to think about how you will be storing them. We recommend organizing and grouping them by the seasons you would normally wear them. Make sure to label the boxes of clothing on all sides based on climate, making it much easier for you to take the winter jackets home when it gets chilly. The labels will help you avoid wasting time looking through every box just to find a specific piece of clothing. Make sure to use small or medium boxes. Even though clothing may seem lightweight, when you have multiple items all in one box, it can become extremely heavy and difficult to pick up. Heavy boxes will slow down the people helping you move, and it may cause someone to hurt their back. If you have any articles of clothing that need to be handled with extra care, like a cashmere sweater or a vintage coat, place them in a wardrobe box. These boxes act as small closets where you can hang your clothing without having to fold or damage them. These wardrobe boxes can be found in our office and we will be more than happy to assist you with constructing them. For extra care with your clothing, place it in vacuum sealed bags. This not only reduces the space that the clothing is taking up, but it also protects it from moth damage. You may also need to store your clothing because sometimes your new home doesn’t have the same closet space as your previous one. The best solution to this is to store articles you are not going to wear (due to the weather) at your nearest self storage facility. As mentioned above, it’s best to pack the articles so they’re grouped by seasons. This helps with organization and accessibility. You will not have to worry about your closet overflowing with unnecessary items, and you’ll be able to know exactly where your ski jacket is when you need it for your weekend trip to the slopes. These are just a few extra tips that will help when you have to store clothing. We’d like to hear about your best clothing storage tips, so please share them with us by commenting below.
