Before You Start Loading
Disassemble large furniture—bed frames, tables, shelving—before moving anything to the truck. Pad sharp corners and edges to protect both your items and the truck walls. Have furniture pads, moving blankets, a dolly, and ratchet straps ready before you start.
Load in This Order
◆ Heaviest items first, against the cab wall: Appliances, dressers, sofas. Keep weight forward and low.
◆ Large furniture next: Mattresses upright against walls. Tables flipped upside-down on top of sofas.
◆ Medium boxes: Fill gaps around furniture, stacking uniformly for stability.
◆ Fragile and light boxes last: On top, clearly labeled, never under anything heavy.
Secure Everything Before You Drive
Use ratchet straps to secure furniture to the truck walls—this prevents shifting on turns and hard stops. Fill open space with boxes or moving blankets to eliminate sliding. After your first stop, check the load and retighten straps as needed.
Loading Into Your Storage Unit
Apply the same logic in your unit: heaviest items along the back and walls, a clear center aisle, and your most frequently accessed items near the door. Did you know many of our locations offer a complimentary move-in truck when you rent a unit? If you're storing temperature-sensitive items, consider climate-controlled storage for added protection.
