Yesterday we talked to you about Rick in Laguna Niguel and how he finally found a home for his Porsche parts collection. After a year of watching her husband enjoy his new found peace of mind that his Laguna Niguel storage unit provided him, Rick’s wife Lori decided she wanted to sneak a peek at her husband’s storage unit for herself. When she saw his organized shelves and all of his prized possessions, neat and accessible, her mind began to race with ideas. As a decorating consultant, Lori likes to rotate her home décor around the holidays and seasons. From Lladró and Hummel figurines, original framed art and art prints, to other assorted knick-knacks for each season, she knew the exact date that one ensemble came down and the new one went up. One drawback to this strategy was how much storage space in the house it took up. Lori had never considered off-site storage until she saw Rick’s indoor, secure, storage unit. She wanted one for herself. Here was her plan: Making Your Laguna Niguel Storage Unit Work For You Like her husband, Lori chose the 5’ x 9’ unit. Not only did it look big enough for what she needed right then, she felt it even had enough room to grow into. Unlike her husband Rick, Lori decided to buy four Gorilla Racks, 4 feet wide, 6 feet tall and 18 inches deep, each with 5 shelves in the unit instead of 3. This allowed her to have full shelves on both walls of here storage unit. Since each shelf could hold 500 pounds, she figured the top shelf could be stacked high with the lighter, less breakable items. The back of the unit left room for a collapsible small step stool that allowed her to reach items on the top shelf stacked to over 8 feet high. Creating a System to Organize Your Storage Lori had five decorating themes, Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, Easter, and patriotic. She then had some miscellaneous items that she categorized as family-themed. She decided to give Halloween and Christmas their own shelving units and designate the remaining two units Thanksgiving/Easter and Family/Patriotic. To keep things neat and easy to stack, she purchased file storage boxes. They are easy to label and they have a sturdy lid. Anything that doesn’t fit in a box would be stacked loosely on the shelf. Lori has perfected her system from year to year. Now when she changes décor, she makes one trip to her storage unit and trades in one season for the next. It is all where it belongs. She no longer spends time looking for this item or that. It has made her life easier. She now recommends this system to her clients.
