How to Prepare Your Boat for Storage

  1. Clean Inside and Out — Wash hull, deck, and trailer. Remove gear, food, and moisture to prevent mildew.
  2. Drain & Dry — Empty bilge, live wells, and water tanks. Let the interior dry completely.
  3. Fuel & Fluids — Top off the gas tank, add stabilizer, and change engine oil and filters before long-term storage.
  4. Disconnect Power — Remove or disconnect the battery; store in a dry place or connect to a trickle charger.
  5. Cover & Secure — Use a breathable marine-grade cover and tie down tightly. Check trailer tires and bearings.
  6. Lock & Protect — Secure your hitch and wheel, and confirm your facility's insurance and gate access details.
